82-0: Can the Memphis Grizzlies Make History?

Three games, three wins, and a city with reasons to dream big.

Can the Memphis Grizzlies go 82-0? Probably not, but the idea is cool. There is nothing wrong with having hope.

A 3-0 start is what’s inspiring this crazy dream of mine: 82-0, with the league’s future MVP and current scoring sensation, Ty Jerome, leading the charge.

This season was supposed to be a disaster after trading away the team’s superstar, Ja Morant. But honestly, what has having a superstar given us? Hope? Excitement? Memorable moments? Absolutely. But we have also seen the results. During Morant’s time in Memphis, the Grizzlies advanced past the first round of the playoffs only once.

And let’s not forget what happened during the Grit N Grind era. That team became the heart and soul of Memphis basketball, built on toughness, defense, and an underdog mentality. Yet even that beloved era reached the Western Conference finals only once.

So, where do the Grizzlies go from here?

Maybe the answer is simple: we start a new chapter.

A New Era of Grizzlies Basketball

Nobody knows exactly what this season will bring, and that is what makes it exciting.

Memphis entered this season with questions surrounding its future. Trading Ja Morant meant saying goodbye to a player who brought star power, highlights, and excitement to the city. It also meant accepting that this team would have to find a new identity.

Three games into the season, the Grizzlies are undefeated.

Let that sink in for a moment.

Memphis opened the season with a 123-103 victory over Utah, followed by a thrilling 111-108 win over Golden State. The Grizzlies then traveled to Sacramento and defeated the Kings 123-112 to move to 3-0.

And at the center of this early excitement is Ty Jerome.

Jerome opened the season with a spectacular 45-point performance against Utah. He followed it up with 31 points against Sacramento, showing that his opening-night explosion was no fluke. He is playing with confidence, controlling the offense, and giving Memphis fans something to talk about.

Is he the league’s next MVP? That’s a bold prediction, and the season has only just begun. But if he keeps playing at this level, he will certainly make people pay attention.

For a team looking for a new leader, Jerome is giving Memphis a reason to believe.

More Than One Player

As exciting as Jerome has been, the Grizzlies’ future cannot depend on one player alone.

Rookie Cameron Boozer is another reason for optimism. In the season opener, Boozer recorded 11 rebounds and five assists despite struggling with his shot. Against Sacramento, he delivered 16 points and 11 rebounds.

That is encouraging.

Young players will make mistakes. They will have difficult nights. They will need time to adjust to the speed, strength, and demands of the NBA. But development is part of the process, and Memphis has an opportunity to build something new.

Cedric Coward is also contributing, recording 15 points and 11 rebounds against Sacramento. Jaylen Wells has provided scoring, while the rest of the roster has opportunities to establish their roles.

This is what makes the beginning of the season so interesting. We are not just watching a team try to win games. We are watching players discover what they can become together.

The Grizzlies do not need everyone to become a superstar. They need players who compete, trust one another, and understand that winning basketball requires a team effort.

If that chemistry develops, Memphis could become a much more interesting team than people expected.

Forget the Predictions. Let the Season Play Out.

Before the season began, people had questions about the Grizzlies.

Could they compete without Ja Morant? Who would lead the offense? Would this become a long rebuilding season?

Those questions were fair. Losing a franchise player is never easy, and three wins do not erase all the challenges ahead.

There are still 79 regular-season games to play. Injuries, difficult road trips, losing streaks, and adversity will test this team. The Western Conference is competitive, and the Grizzlies will have to prove they can sustain this start.

But why should we spend October worrying about what might go wrong when we can enjoy what is going right?

The victory over Sacramento offered a glimpse of what this team could be. When the Kings fought back and tied the game at 106, Memphis responded with an 11-0 run to regain control.

That response matters. It showed that the Grizzlies could face a difficult moment, regroup, and make the plays needed to win.

One game does not define a season. Neither does three. But early wins can build confidence, and confidence can help a young team grow.

The question now is whether Memphis can keep improving.

Memphis, It’s Time to Believe Again

For years, Grizzlies fans have embraced the underdog mentality. We have celebrated the hustle, the defense, the toughness, and the players who gave everything they had every time they stepped on the floor.

We know what it feels like to be overlooked. We know what it feels like when the rest of the basketball world does not believe in Memphis.

Maybe that is why this new beginning feels so exciting.

We do not need to know how the story ends to enjoy the journey. We do not need every national analyst to pick Memphis as a championship contender. We do not need everyone to agree that the Grizzlies are headed in the right direction.

We need a team that competes, a coaching staff that develops its players, and a fan base that continues to show up and support the Grizzlies.

And right now, we have reasons to be excited.

Could Ty Jerome continue playing at an MVP level? Could Cameron Boozer develop into a cornerstone of the franchise? Could this group surprise the league and become one of the NBA’s most entertaining teams?

Those are questions worth watching unfold.

Maybe 82-0 is a dream that belongs in basketball fantasy. But a winning season? A playoff run? A team that makes Memphis proud and gives the city something to rally around?

Those possibilities are worth believing in.

So, Grizzlies fans, enjoy this 3-0 start. Celebrate the wins. Wear your blue and gold with pride. Let the rest of the league laugh at the 82-0 dream if it wants to.

We are Memphis. We believe in grit. We believe in hard work. And we believe a new chapter can lead to something special.

Eighty-two and oh? Probably not. But why not dream big?

The season is young. The Grizzlies are undefeated. And the best part of this story is that nobody knows how it will end.

Maybe we are getting ahead of ourselves. Maybe reality will eventually bring us back down to earth.

But for now, Memphis has a winning record, a new group to believe in, and a reason to get excited about basketball again.

Let the journey begin.

Go Grizzlies! 🐻🏀
